INTRODUCTION

At Feng Chia University, KSU students will have the opportunity to study and live in Taichung, the second largest city in Taiwan with a population of approximately 2.8 million. Students may study business or computer engineering during the spring semester or academic year through courses taught in English.

ACADEMIC OVERVIEW

Classes are offered in English in various business disciplines, as well as computer engineering.

Exchange students are allowed to take most of the academic programs and do cross‐departmental studies at FCU. However, undergraduate students may be unable to sign up for graduate courses if they are not permitted by the department or faculties. Normally, most bachelor students are not allowed to attend the higher level courses (i.e., Master/PhD Programs). Master/PhD students can take bachelor courses, but may not able to get equivalence credits for graduate studies.

Student may participate in the intensive Chinese courses of the Chinese Language Center (CLC), but there are extra fees associated with the CLC programs. For more information, please visit http://www.clc.fcu.edu.tw/

Students are able to attend Feng Chia University during the Academic Year or Spring Semester. Each term (Spring and Fall) is 18 weeks long, with 17 weeks of class and a one-week examination period. The Spring semester runs from early February to early June, and the Academic Year runs from early September to early June.

***Always check the host school's website for finalized semester dates before making travel arrangements. ***

Students must be in good academic standing (3.0 GPA or higher) and be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language (TOEFL iBT 70 / IELTS 5.0). If students would like to take courses in Chinese, they must demonstrate proficiency in the Chinese language (HSK Level 6 / TOCFL Level 5). Additionally, students must have taken classes at Kent State University for at least one academic year before applying.

ACCOMMODATION

Students have the option of renting apartments or dormitory housing. Apartments are not owned by FCU and students are responsible for securing and paying for their own apartments. The dormitories are located both on- and off-campus and consist of single, double, triple, and quadruple occupancy rooms. The dormitories are furnished much like American residence halls and may also feature basketball courts, softball fields, gymnasiums, and laundry facilities.

COSTS & TUITION

Students pay Kent State University tuition (Ohio Resident or Non-Resident) for 12-18 credit hours per semester. Housing and living costs will vary depending on the options students choose. Total estimated costs can be found in the Budget Sheet at the top of this page, to the lower left of the Apply Now button.
