Curitiba is the capital of the state of Paraná, located in southern Brazil. The city is surrounded by mountains, and is focused heavily on promoting sustainability through various green initiatives. This focus can be seen throughout the city by visiting the various parks and recreation attractions which celebrate Brazilian vegetation and scenery. Brazil has one of the fastest growing economies in the world, fostering a unique urban environment, as well as interesting ecosystems ranging from tropical rainforests (the Amazon) to mountain ranges to beaches. An important fact to remember: the official language of Brazil is Portuguese (not Spanish!).
