BUS 30234 - International Business; Pre-requisites: ECON 22060 and ECON 22061

3 credit hours / 3 weeks (6/8/19 – 6/29/19)

INTRODUCTION:

Study International Business in Curitiba, Brazil! You will earn 3-credit hours for three weeks of classes Mon-Fri, 9AM-2:45PM with a break for lunch. The course will be taught by a Kent State professor from the College of Business, and you will study alongside Brazilian students who are enrolled in the American Academy, our dual-enrollment program with our partner university PUCPR (Catholic University of Paraná).

The program will include two field trips – these may vary based on availability, but often include activities such as a soccer game, a day-trip to a nearby historic town, or scenic train ride to the coast.

Curitiba is the capital of the state of Paraná, located in southern Brazil. The city is surrounded by mountains, and is focused heavily on promoting sustainability through various green initiatives. This focus can be seen throughout the city by visiting the various parks and recreation attractions which celebrate Brazilian vegetation and scenery.  Brazil has one of the fastest growing economies in the world, fostering a unique urban environment, as well as interesting ecosystems ranging from tropical rainforests (the Amazon) to mountain ranges to beaches.  An important fact to remember: the official language of Brazil is Portuguese (not Spanish!).
