OVERVIEW 

Course Name and CRN: CRN 14162           CACM   35095    620         ST: Peacebuilding in Colombia

Location(s): Bogota, Colombia

KSU Sponsoring College: Kent State Regional Campus (Stark Campus)

Course Description:  Colombia recently ended one of the world’s longest wars by negotiating the world’s most inclusive peace agreement, which addresses gender, race, and sexuality. These provisions were controversial and Colombians voted against the first version of the accord. Students in this class will learn about the conflict, the peace process, and ongoing struggles to implement the accords, with a focus on inclusive peace measures. This course is a collaboration with the Universidad del Rosario (UR), and the ten days in Colombia will be done with Colombian students of UR.

ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS

Students will stay in CityU Tower in Bogota during the 10-day trip. CityU is walking distance from vibrant, historical neighborhoods in Bogota, as well as our partner university, Universidad del Rosario. Dining services and gym facilities are available in the Tower. Each suite will include 4 bedrooms/2 bathrooms, a living space and kitchen. Food expense is not included in program cost and will be paid out of pocket. Students should plan for $10-15/day for food cost.

Program Fee Breakdown:
After a competitive application process, 15 students will receive a full scholarship to cover the program fee.

Tuition:

Estimated personal costs:
$10-15 / day in food cost + personal purchases
