PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

ACADEMIC OVERVIEW

Students will take two 3-credit hour courses. The classes will be scheduled either from 9:00am to 12:00pm or from 2:00pm to 5:00pm on weekdays. All courses are taught in English, aside from the Chinese language classes.

  • Chinese Language, Culture and Society
  • Design, Innovation and Technology
  • Business, Entrepreneurship and Global Leadership
 

ACADEMIC CALENDAR

  • Summer: July 4 or July 11 - August 14
  • 2019 Calendar
    • Hall check-in: 4 July* or 11 July
      • ​*Early check-in if participating in the field trip
    • Registration and Orientation: 12 July
    • First day of class: 15 July
    • Last day of class: 9 August
    • Assessment exams: 12 August
    • Closing party: 9 August night
    • Hall check-out: 14 August
    • Field trip (Optional): 6-11 July
These dates are tentative. Always consult the host university's website and your Education Abroad Advisor before finalizing travel arrangements. 
 

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

  • This program is open to all students regardless of major.
  • Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and be in good academic standing to be eligible for the program.
  • Students must have acquired a minimum of 15.0 credit hours and be a degree-seeking undergraduate student.
  • Students must have taken classes at Kent State University for at least one semester before applying, i.e. students must have a Kent State GPA. 
 

ACCOMMODATION

While in the program, you will live in a double occupancy room in one of the residence halls on campus. You can request a roommate from our program, though roommate preferences are NOT guaranteed. Each room has internet access and is fully furnished. You will be responsible for purchasing your own food.
 


COSTS & TUITION

  • Students pay Kent State University tuition (Ohio Resident or Non-Resident) for 6.0 credit hours.
  • Total estimated costs can be found in the Budget Sheet at the top of this page.
  • FREE HOUSING! Kent State students receive a scholarship from HKPU to cover the cost of housing.
