ACADEMIC OVERVIEW

SUMMER PROGRAM:
Program provides 6 credits for FDM Electives or Support Core Electives for FD. Learning experiences include:

Fashion Merchandising and Communications Specialization:
  • European Fashion Marketing, FDM 35902 (3 credits)
  • European Fashion Marketing Seminar, FDM 35903 (3 credits)

Fashion Design majors choose from one of two Specializations:
  • Design Process
  • Couture Techniques.
Courses for both Specializations include:
  • European Fashion Design Seminar, FDM 35905 (3 credits)
  • European Fashion Design, FDM 35904 (3 credits)
 

ACADEMIC CALENDAR
TENTATIVE Program Dates 2020
  • SUMMER Session I: June 2 - June 28, 2020 (students should arrive on June 1)
  • SUMMER Session II: July 3 - July 30, 2020 (students should arrive on July 2)


PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
  1. Design and merchandising majors of sophomore, junior or senior academic standing are eligible to apply for the Summer.
  2. Participants must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA, upon commitment to the program.
  3. Students must be nominated formally by the School of Fashion prior to applying.
 

ACCOMMODATION
Located within 1 mile of the school, in the Latin Quarter. 
Housing is arranged by the PAA. Students pay housing costs directly to the PAA. Housing options include:

SUMMER HOUSING:
  • Shared, private furnished apartment: $2,500*
  • Shared, three star hotel twin room: $3,400*
  • Single, three star hotel single room: $5,700*
*all costs are estimates and subject to change.
 

FEES & TUITION
  • SUMMER PROGRAM:
    • Students pay Kent State University tuition for 6.0 credit hours: In-State and Out-of-State rates based on your cohort
    • Program fee: $1,500 non-refundable deposit; Due by February 1st, 2020.
    • Housing and living costs will vary depending on the options students choose (see above).  
    • International Health Insurance: $12.60/ week (required by Kent State University)
    • Personal and incidental expenses: $2,000 (food, personal travel, cell phone, internet, and incidentals, etc.; will vary from student to student)
