ACADEMIC OVERVIEWInternship Colloquium
The internship colloquium, a mandatory aspect of the internship program, is approximately two hours per week. Students will learn more about topics such as work life in Germany, communication, culture, etc. A copy of the syllabus can be found online.
The internship takes place for 8 weeks, running from mid/late May to mid-July. Students will apply for placement and will be placed according to his/her academic field and previous experience. Requirements include 35-40 hours per week in the placement in addition to attending the weekly colloquium class.
Although German language knowledge is not required, any language abilities beyond beginner-level are highly recommended.
***IMPORTANT: The internship program is 10 ECTS (European credits) which is equivalent to 5 U.S. credits. If you are considering applying for this program, you must consult with your academic advisor and department to receive approval to participate in an internship and receive academic credit for it.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTSThis program is open to all students, of all majors, who have a minimum 3.0 GPA and at least second semester Sophomore standing. Additionally, students must have taken classes at Kent State University for at least one semester before applying, i.e. students must have a Kent State GPA.
ACCOMMODATIONStudents will need to apply for housing (single-occupancy apartments) through FU-Berlin.
COSTS & TUITIONStudents will pay FU-Berlin tuition and fees. Living costs will vary depending on the options students choose. Students will be billed to their Bursar’s account.
Students studying in Germany may be eligible for a DAAD scholarship.
