ACADEMIC OVERVIEW

Classes
Students are required to take a German intensive language class; these classes are offered at all levels (no prior knowledge of German is required).  The majority of subject classes are taught in English.  Subject classes taught in German are available to students who meet the language requirement, and are dependent upon sufficient enrollment.
 
Classes taught in English are in the following subjects:
art history
comparative literature
the European Union
German history
German and European politics
sociology/psychology
film studies
legal studies
architecture
environmental studies
transatlantic relations
business
music history
philosophy

Internship
Following the spring semester at FU-Berlin, students have the opportunity to add on an internship.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

This program is open to all students, of all majors, who have a minimum 3.0 GPA and at least second semester Sophomore standing.  Additionally, students must have taken classes at Kent State University for at least one semester before applying, i.e. students must have a Kent State GPA. Students must be enrolled in the intensive German language course while abroad. 

ACCOMMODATION

FU-Berlin offers various housing options. Students will select if they wish to stay with a host family, which includes breakfast and dinner, or in a single apartment.  The apartments at Akademia Residenz are located in the Reinickendorf district of Berlin, and have been recently renovated, are fully furnished, and include internet/WIFI access.   Students also have the option to locate their own housing independently.   For more information, please refer to FU Berlin’s accommodation website.

COSTS & TUITION

Students will pay FU Berlin tuition and housing costs.  Housing and living costs will vary depending on the options students choose.  Students will be billed to their Bursar’s account.

Scholarships!
Students studying in Germany may be eligible for a DAAD scholarship.
